Join us on the sunny and beautiful beaches of Tulum, Mexico for a week-long intensive that will take a deep dive into the nuts and bolts of your movement practice.  This is the perfect opportunity to focus on yourself, take your strength and mobility to the next level, and surround yourself with an amazing community of inspired and like-minded individuals

The Movement Mechanics retreat is an intelligent, multidisciplinary movement program that will give you the tools necessary to significantly increase your strength, flexibility, and mental game.  This will be an unforgettable week of yoga, handstands, gymnastics-based conditioning, and functional recovery exercises set in the lush landscape of a private villa in Tulum, Mexico, and fueled by fresh, locally-sourced food prepared for you daily.

THIS TRAINING IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO:

• Dramatically increase their flexibility
• Build tremendous strength using bodyweight training exercises (either in addition to or instead of weight training)
• Learn to hold a handstand or dramatically improve their existing handstand technique

Program Outline

Strength and skills:

  • Handstand

  • Compression strength

  • L and V sit progressions

  • Beginner and intermediate gymnastics rings routines

  • Using parallette to build strength for press handstand and planche

Mobility:

  • Middle split

  • Increasing shoulder range of motion to improve handstand lines

  • Back bending/thoracic spine extension

  • Improving wrist extension to guard against injury

  • Hamstring and lower back opening

Yoga and Recovery:

  • Breakwork to calm the nervous system and speed up the recovery process

  • Partner bodywork

 

What to expect From Our Program

  • Get connected to your body, be challenged, master new skills, recover, repeat.  Our three daily classes include: 

    • Morning breathwork & mobility session

    • Afternoon strength and skills workshop

    • Evening recover/bodywork practicum

  • Be surrounded by a community of driven, like-minded movers. Build lasting and meaningful connections.   Get inspired by your new friends. 

  • Ample amounts of personalized attention and hands on adjustments/corrections.  We’ll work with you in small groups to analyze and correct dysfunctional movement patterns.  

  • Didactic teaching sessions offering a thorough analysis of the mechanics behind each movement, methods for building your own training programs, and how to avoid common mistakes, setbacks, and injuries.  

  • Unlock your physical and mental potential as you train through the mountain breeze and recover under the Spanish sun. 

  • Learn to move with precision, control, and efficiency.  Working smarter, not necessarily harder, is the name of the game here.  Get stronger, more mobile, and build better mind-body awareness to create lasting change.

Amenities & Activities

  • Be refreshed: Sleep soundly in one of the eight boutique rooms in this gorgeous villa just minutes from the beach.

  • Be nourished: Three farm-fresh, wholesome meals per day provided by our fantastic on-site chef.  The menu is gluten-free with plenty of vegetarian options available.  

  • Be recovered: Lounge in the sun by the fresh, mineral water swimming pool or cool off in the shade while soaking in the waters of our private on-site cenote.  

  • Sweat it out: Cleanse and restore in the on-site Temezcal sweat lodge ceremony.  

  • Lounge at the beach: feeling tired? Take some time off and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the beach!

  • Explore the town: support the local artists and purchase beautiful yet inexpensive handmade goods at the local market.

Meet Your Coaches

 

ARI HALBERT

Ari is a gifted teacher with a diverse education, an extraordinary eye for detail and an unparalleled understanding of biomechanics and its application to strength training and mobility. A licensed acupuncturist, holistic nutrition coach, qi gong instructor, certified gymnastics strength training coach, and registered yoga teacher with over a decade of experience, Ari brings a diverse, multi-disciplinary approach to his work and has helped many find their maximum potential in movement.

His background in engineering, in-depth studies of biomechanics, and hands-on training in human anatomy enable him to help clients recover quickly from injury, achieve greater overall stability, and build functional strength. Ari is an expert in breaking down complex movement principles in a way that is easy to digest and helps people to move with greater precision, and control.

NOAH JULIAN

Following a brief career as a concert violinist, cut short by a struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Noah Julian began a lifelong wholistic approach to his personal health and wellness. His education and research over the past two decades has led down many areas of specialization including those related to optimal human movement.

Noah’s teaching largely involves Calisthenics (body-weight strength training) coupled with the work and teaching of Nevine Michaan of Katonah Yoga®. Noah served as co-founder of Philadelphia’s Yoga and Movement Sanctuary (YMS), as well as co-leader of YMS’s 250 hour teacher training. Noah teaches a regular class schedule (for multiple levels) throughout the Philadelphia area and can periodically be found teaching workshops and trainings throughout the United States.
